Church Planting & Psalm 127

“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.  It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.  Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.  Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth.  Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.”   – Psalms 127

As I meditated on this passage this morning, I sensed a clear vision from the Lord regarding the Great Commission and specifically church planting here in the Central Valley of California.

May we see many spiritual children born to the Lord in His redeeming work through His humble laborers in the fields of this Valley.  As we head out to pick and harvest, may God guide us to the doors and relationships He has called us to enter into and pour His loving care and friendship into day by day.  May we never sit idle in our dwellings but instead enter our community confident that God will give us eternal siblings in Christ from those we meet and serve and encourage!  It is His Harvest but it’s our opportunity to witness His redeeming work first-hand when we simply step out in steadfast love to enter the lives of those God guides us to!

My joy is ever-increasing as I encounter new and long-time friends with an eternal perspective on how important each interaction is.

In the redeeming love of our Savior, Jesus,

– Torrey
