Check this out y’all.
“28 Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
– Matthew 19:28-30
This passage wrapped out my reading for today of Matthew 10-20. What an amazing series of true stories and conversations wrapping my heart around Jesus and His disciples times together.
This passage has been impacting me as well in considering Christ and His promised Holy Spirit, our Helper in making disciples of Jesus in this short life:
“1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.”
– 1 John 2:1-6
We ought to walk in the same way in which He walked, friends! Who did Jesus spend time with? How did He lead His disciples? Who did He say is most likely to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? And yet, who do we prioritize for our social lives?
Oh God, I pray we would press on to know You by daily choosing Jesus’ way of walking and speaking and serving and sharing of the Good News among us!
